Settlement

Ethereum First, More L1s to Follow

The settlement layer of SOON initially relies on Ethereum, providing a high level of security and stability. By leveraging Ethereum’s extensive validator network and decentralized consensus mechanism, SOON ensures the integrity and reliability of the settlement process.

Current Focus on Ethereum:

  1. Security and Liquidity:

    • Ethereum’s mature and robust infrastructure offers a secure environment for settling transactions. Its extensive validator network and decentralized consensus ensure transaction integrity. Additionally, Ethereum's wide array of assets and high liquidity significantly benefit SOON, providing a stable and reliable foundation.

  2. ETH as Gas Token:

    • Using ETH as the gas token aligns SOON with the Ethereum ecosystem, facilitating seamless integration and interoperability with Ethereum-based assets and applications. This alignment simplifies user interactions and supports broader adoption by leveraging Ethereum’s established ecosystem.

Future Expansion:

SOON’s architecture is designed to be flexible, allowing for the integration of additional Layer 1 (L1) blockchains as settlement layers in the future. This multi-L1 approach will enhance interoperability and provide even greater flexibility and security for SOON’s ecosystem.

  1. Integration of Additional L1s:

    • Beyond Ethereum, SOON plans to integrate other L1 blockchains such as Bitcoin EVM and Cosmos. Each additional L1 will be selected based on its unique advantages, further enhancing the overall security and functionality of the SOON platform.

  2. Interoperability and Flexibility:

    • By supporting multiple L1s, SOON aims to create a highly interoperable and flexible ecosystem. This approach ensures that SOON can adapt to the evolving blockchain landscape, providing users and developers with a broad range of options for secure and efficient transaction settlement.
